Ubuntu Day meets Lerche Festival: on 1 October, our cooperation partner „City of Ubuntu“ celebrated together with the Weltladen in Lerchenfelderstraße. In addition to African impulses for a common future and African delicacies, „Adama Dicko and his band Seno Blues“ delighted the guests.
I am because you are, I am because we are
Ubuntu is a guiding principle in many African cultures. It is based on mutual respect, human dignity and the idea of a peaceful, harmonious society in which everyone thrives together: I am because you are. I am because we are.
City of Ubuntu realises the African Ubuntu philosophy through an equal partnership between Austria and Cameroon. The pilot project in Sanki connects people, nature and cultures, creates space for meaningful encounters and aims to generate new solutions for a just and sustainable future.
1 ha tree protection zone
In conversations with Tim and Jean de Dieu, it quickly became clear that the two organisations are united by their concern for the existing trees and that this could provide significant impetus for a sustainable future. Tim was able to share his vision - and excitingly, some of it fits in with the „old traditional way“ and knowledge, as Jean de Dieu remembers from his childhood. As a first step, „City of Ubuntu“ established a one-hectare tree protection zone at the pilot project in Cameroon in cooperation with the Baumkreis um die Welt. At the tree circle festival at Burg Bernstein, Jean de Dieu, Bernadette and „Dante“ Herwig shared their vision with us. Many thanks for that! We are excited to see what the future holds here...
