At the 10th Forest Education Congress at Burg Lockenhaus, the dependencies of the forest on climatic changes were particularly researched. Tim Martina Schäffer was there as a musician and presented our project „Trees of Harmony“, which deals with the dependence of musical instruments and the forest. Finally, wood – ideally even special sound wood – is an essential component of many instruments.
Trees of Harmony
Trees of Harmony is dedicated to this: As a thank-you for our beautifully crafted wooden musical instruments, we want to give something back to nature: planting trees, promoting native forests, and increasing biodiversity. We support the preservation and care of appropriate tree species.
The following page leads to the project including the music video „Die Fichte“.
La Iluminadora
Tim had also brought his very special guitar to the congress, whose history had first inspired him to the project „Trees of Harmony“.
La Iluminadora – the Illuminator – is the name of the guitar built by Edmund Blöchinger, with which he was able to perform some pieces of music at the WP Congress.
Moving experiences
Tim himself writes about his experiences at the congress:
At the Congress of Forest Educators, I was allowed to create a half-hour presentation on the topic of Water and Forest using music and texts. I received a huge round of applause and saw deep, moved faces. One by one, a forester came to me, showed deep emotion at the story of my guitar, and explained that he would now see the firs differently… it had become ingrained in his consciousness… he would now handle sound wood very carefully…. I can’t even tell you what that means to me! I almost cried the whole way home out of emotion. 🥲Thank you!🙏
